PlayPhone Receives its First US Patent!

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued PlayPhone a key patent that covers real-time multiplayer gaming, a trend that is significantly on the rise worldwide. U.S. Patent No. 8,556,713 enables game developers to easily convert their single player game into a multiplayer game using PlayPhone’s cross-platform (iOS and Android) multiplayer gaming technology.

Exciting New Updates to PlayPhone’s Developer Portal!

We are excited to announce our next round of developer portal updates! PlayPhone has worked long and hard to make our developer portal even better.

First, we wanted to give you a bit of background. Until now, developers had no way of managing the status of their games (submission, canceling submission or un-publishing games). PlayPhone had to approve any and all changes. As PlayPhone’s developer network expands, this process became inefficient and was no longer the best solution. We decided to give our developers more options and control over their games and below is a full list of the latest update.

Game Setup Improvement:

  • We developed a new step-by-step wizard for setting up your games metadata, in-app products, leaderboards, achievements, promotional assets and application resources.
  • Use the active checklists to ensure all relevant sections have been completed for submitting your game for approval.

Go Sequentially, or Skip Ahead:

  • Use the “Back” and “Next” navigation buttons to navigate between sections sequentially OR
  • Use the section quick link on the left hand panel to jump to other sections

When your game is ready, Submit for Approval:

  • Quickly review the game status to know if your game is ready for approval, pending approval or needs revision.
  • You can manage the status of your game with very simple actions:
    • “Review Actions” – Review pending actions for submitting game for approval
    • “Submit Now” – Sends your game to the game approvals team
    •  “Cancel Submission” – Removes your request to approve the game
    • “Unpublish” – Un-publishes the game from the game store

Email Notifications:

  • Your games are queued up for approval and publishing as soon as you submit it.
  • We will send you continuous updates on the status of your game as it moves from testing to approval to finally being published on the Game Stores of your choice.

PlayPhone CEO & Founder Ron Czerny Featured in Forbes


Forbe’s journalist Tom Taulli sat down with PlayPhone Founder and CEO Ron Czerny to discuss PlayPhone’s strategy and approach when it comes to mobile social gaming. This is the third time that PlayPhone has been featured in Forbes and we are excited that we got the opportunity to discuss our growth and the future of mobile.

“I always look forward to speaking with Forbes and it is an honor knowing PlayPhone is speaking with one of the top publications in the world,” says Ron.

In the interview, Ron discusses the advantages of game developers having their games on the PlayPhone Mobile Game Network versus other app stores. “PlayPhone’s social game stores integrate the store and network into a single app,” describes Ron. “Traditional app stores feature two separate apps to discover and share games: one for downloading the game and one for sharing and including social features (i.e. Google Play /Google Play Games and iTunes/Game Center). PlayPhone eliminates the need to download additional apps or constantly input friend lists.”

With major game developing giants taking over other app stores, Taulli asks Ron for his advice to game developers on making the next breakout hit. Ron states that ‘distribution’ is a strong component that makes a successful game. Where PlayPhone excels in terms of distribution is that “PlayPhone’s social game stores are preloaded on millions of Android devices capturing premium real estate on handsets and making it easy for gamers to jump in and play.”

PlayPhone’s CEO Discusses Growth and the Future of Mobile Gaming

Ron Czerny, CEO of PlayPhone and MEF North American Board Chairman, explains in the MEF MINUTE how the mobile gaming industry in North America is sure to become the biggest revenue maker for apps on mobile devices. In the article, Ron talks about how mobile phone users are becoming the consumer’s first screen wherever they are and marketers should be aware of the consumers in this market.
